The Safest Las Vegas ZIP Codes, Ranked by LVMPD Data
The safest Las Vegas-area ZIP code is 89179 in Enterprise, at 7.2 crimes per 1,000 residents per year (LVMPD NIBRS, 2-year average) — about 15% of the metro's population-weighted baseline of 48.6/1K. The highest-crime qualifying ZIP is 89101 in Downtown Las Vegas at 132.9/1K, 18.5× the safest rate. This report ranks all 40 Clark County ZIP codes that carry usable LVMPD crime data and clear a 10,000-resident population floor; it does not rank Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, or Mesquite (no usable LVMPD data), and it excludes 9 very small ZIP codes, including the Las Vegas Strip's 89109, where a tiny resident base makes the rate statistically unstable.
Rankings below are computed directly from this site's published dataset — LVMPD NIBRS crime reporting, U.S. Census ACS 2023 population, and Zillow ZHVI home values — the same figures used throughout the interactive map and every ZIP and neighborhood page on this site. No number below is estimated or modeled; every figure traces back to that dataset, and the full CSV is downloadable for free from the homepage.
Key findings
- 89179 (Enterprise) is the safest qualifying ZIP code in the Las Vegas metro at 7.2 crimes per 1,000 residents/year — the lowest of the 40 ZIP codes ranked here.
- The metro's population-weighted baseline is 48.6 per 1,000 residents/year across all 49 LVMPD-covered Clark County ZIP codes; the safest ZIP runs at roughly 15% of that baseline.
- 89101 (Downtown Las Vegas) is the highest-crime qualifying ZIP code at 132.9/1K — an 18.5× spread between the safest and highest-crime ZIP codes in this ranking.
- Safety carries a price premium. The median home value (Zillow ZHVI) across the 10 safest ZIP codes is $495,087, about 49% higher ($162,532 more) than the $332,555 median across the 10 highest-crime ZIP codes.
- The safest ZIP codes cluster geographically. All 10 sit in Enterprise, Summerlin, or Centennial Hills & Northwest — the valley's newer western and southwestern suburbs — while the 10 highest-crime ZIP codes concentrate in Downtown Las Vegas, Paradise, Spring Valley, and central Las Vegas, the older urban core and resort corridor.

Ties (4th/5th, both 12.8/1K) are broken by ZIP code ascending. Violent rate is derived from reported homicides, robberies, and aggravated assaults — the violent offense categories LVMPD NIBRS breaks out — as an annual average per 1,000 residents; it may not capture every violent offense category.

Methodology
Sources & vintages: Crime figures are LVMPD NIBRS reporting, expressed as a 2-year annual average. Population is U.S. Census ACS 2023 5-year estimates. Home values are Zillow's Home Value Index (ZHVI), the same current snapshot used across this site.
Rate math: Total crime rate = average annual crimes ÷ population × 1,000, i.e. crimes per 1,000 residents per year. Violent rate is derived the same way from reported homicides, robberies, and aggravated assaults — LVMPD NIBRS's violent offense categories for these ZIP codes — because the dataset's single aggregate "violent crime" field is unpopulated here; summing the components avoids showing a misleading 0.0 next to ZIP codes that clearly have reported violent offenses.
Own-PD exclusion: 17 Clark County ZIP codes are policed by a municipal department other than LVMPD and are never ranked, rated, or scored anywhere on this site, including here: Henderson (89002, 89011, 89012, 89014, 89015, 89044, 89052, 89074), North Las Vegas (89030, 89031, 89032, 89081, 89084, 89085, 89086), Boulder City (89005), and Mesquite (89027). None of these have a usable LVMPD crime rate — a blank cell means missing data, not "zero crime" or "safe."
Population threshold: This report additionally requires population ≥ 10,000 among the 49 remaining LVMPD-covered ZIP codes, to avoid small-population artifacts where one or two incidents can swing a rate wildly. That excludes 9 more ZIP codes:
89007 Bunkerville (pop. 1,119), 89018 Indian Springs (753), 89019 Jean (2,355), 89021 Logandale (3,079), 89025 Moapa (1,060), 89029 Laughlin (8,954), 89040 Overton (3,842), 89109 Paradise / the Strip (6,924), and 89124 Mount Charleston (711). That leaves 40 qualifying ZIP codes, ranked in full above and below.
Resort-corridor caveat: 89109 — the Strip's own ZIP — is the clearest case for this threshold: its unfiltered LVMPD rate runs above 1,300 per 1,000 residents, a statistical outlier driven by casino-corridor and visitor incident volume divided across only 6,924 residents, not a literal read on resident risk. 89101 and 89169, which do clear the population floor and appear in the highest-crime table above, sit inside or next to that same tourist corridor and carry a smaller version of the same distortion — see the inline caveat on that table.

Safest Las Vegas ZIP codes FAQ
What is the safest ZIP code in Las Vegas?
ZIP 89179 in Enterprise has the lowest reported crime rate among the 40 Clark County ZIP codes that qualify for this ranking (LVMPD-covered, population 10,000+): 7.2 crimes per 1,000 residents per year, LVMPD NIBRS 2-year average. It's followed closely by 89166 (Centennial Hills & Northwest, 12.5/1K) and 89138 (Summerlin, 12.6/1K).
Is the Las Vegas Strip really the most dangerous ZIP code?
The Strip's ZIP code, 89109, does post the single highest raw crime rate in the dataset — about 1,320 per 1,000 residents per year — but that figure is a statistical artifact, not a literal safety read. 89109 has only about 6,924 residents, so the enormous volume of casino-corridor and tourist-driven incidents gets divided by a tiny resident base, inflating the per-resident rate far beyond what any local actually experiences. That's exactly why this report excludes ZIP codes under 10,000 population, including 89109, from its ranked tables. The highest-crime ZIP codes that do clear that threshold, 89101 (Downtown Las Vegas, 132.9/1K) and 89169 (Paradise, 120.3/1K), also sit inside or next to the resort and Fremont Street tourist corridors, so their rates likewise run higher than a purely residential neighborhood with similar demographics would.
Why isn't Henderson included in this safest-ZIP ranking?
Henderson runs its own police department, separate from LVMPD, so its 8 ZIP codes fall outside the LVMPD NIBRS reporting this ranking is built on — along with North Las Vegas (7 ZIP codes), Boulder City (1), and Mesquite (1), 17 ZIP codes in total. None of them have a usable LVMPD crime rate, so none of them are ranked, scored, or implied to be safe or unsafe by this report. Henderson does regularly rank among the safer large U.S. cities in outside national comparisons, but that's a reputational fact from other rankings, not something this LVMPD-only dataset measures or confirms.
